Tonya Johannsen talks about challenges in the construction industry on USI Insurance Services podcast

Tonya Johannsen, a shareholder at Canterbury PC, talked with Brian Hunt, CPA, CPCU with USI Insurance Services on his podcast “Risk On/Risk Off” about the challenges the construction industry faces in quantifying and mitigating the inherent risks that exist in the industry.  Chief among the topics were the importance of appropriate documentation, attention to the rights and the responsibilities of the various stakeholders in a construction project and suggestions regarding the transfer of risk through insurance.  Ms. Johannsen has dealt with the “risky business” of the construction industry both as a General Counsel at The Beck Group and as outside counsel.  She offers a unique perspective about the risk tolerance that contractors and subcontractors have as compared to an attorney’s concerns when documenting a transaction or litigating in the aftermath of a failed project.  The session was lively and informative.
